Boundary behavior of<Emphasis Type="Italic">μ</Emphasis>-homeomorphisms

We provide conditions on the complex dilatation of a homeomorphismf of the upper half plane ℍ into ℂ, which guarantee thatf(ℍ) is a proper subset of ℂ and, in case wheref(ℍ) is a Jordan domain, thatf has a homeomorphic extension onto .     

Sensitized photomodification of oligonucleotide-binding proteins displayed on the eucaryotic cell surface

Interactions of double-stranded nucleic acids with cell surface proteins, which are involved in binding and transport of extracellular nucleic acids, were studied by the photoaffinity modification with a binary system of oligonucleotide conjugates. The photoreactive double-stranded complex involved an oligonucleotide template and two complementary to adjacent sequences oligonucleotide conjugates. One conjugate contained a photoreagent, viz., 4-azido-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorobenzaldehyde N-(3-aminopropionyl)hydrazone, at the terminus located in proximity to the terminus of another conjugate containing the sensitizer, viz., 9-aminomethylanthracene. Binding of photoreagent and the sensitizer to a single-stranded template yields the photoreactive center. Upon irradiation with visible light (400—580 nm), this photoreactive double-stranded complex forms covalent cross-linkages with oligonucleotide-binding surface proteins of eucaryotic SPEV cells.     

Diagnostics of nonlinearities using scattered field disturbances

We formulated an integral equation for finding the field in an arbitrary nonlinear medium. In the case of a localized nonlinearity, this equation is effectively solved using the iteration technique. It is shown that the inverse problem of recovering current-voltage characteristics of arbitrary nonlinearities by scattered field disturbances can be solved on this basis. Removal of Methylene Blue from Aging Water Solutions Treated by a Submerged Arc

Low voltage, low energy submerged pulsed arcs with a pulse repetition rate of 100 Hz, energies of 2.6–192 mJ and durations of 10–40 μs, followed by aging in the dark, were used to decompose 10 mg/l methylene blue (MB) dissolved in 40 ml of water, with the addition of 0.5 % H₂O₂. Electrode pairs composed of Fe/Fe, Ti/Ti, Cu/Cu, Cu/Fe, Fe/Cu, Ti/Fe, Fe/Ti, Cu/Ti and Ti/Cu were used. MB degraded during arc treatment, and during post arc treatment aging. The aging degraded MB faster (by a factor of ~2–3) when the MB solution was subjected to arcing with dissimilar electrodes when one of them was Cu, than for arcing with other used electrode pairs. The impact of the arc treatment time and the electrode materials on the MB removal ratio (C₀–C_ta)/C₀ was determined as a function of aging time t_a, where C₀ and C_ta are the MB concentrations initially and after t_a. For a pulse duration of 10 μs and pulse energies of 2–20 mJ, the MB removal rate increased linearly with treatment time and its growth rate increased with pulse energy. The linear dependence of the MB removal rate on treatment time was violated with pulse duration of 40 μs and pulse energies of 30–200 mJ. Kinetics of the MB degradation during aging of the arc treated solution was well described by the 1st order linear rate equation.     

Erbium complexes of “sandwich” type containing fragments of <Emphasis Type="Italic">meso</Emphasis>-tetraphenyltetrabenzoporphyrin and phthalocyanines of different structures synthesis and spectral properties

Reactions of erbium acetate meso-tetraphenyltetrabenzoporphyrinate with excess phthalonitrile, 4-nitro- and 4-hydroxyphthalonitrile, and also with dilithium (octa-4,5-pentoxy)-phthalocyanine gave rise to unsymmetrical complexes of “sandwich” structure. The spectral properties of compounds synthesized were examined.

Variation of the composition of asphaltenes in the course of bitumen aging in the presence of antioxidants

Chemical aging of BND 40/60 bitumen in the presence of an oxidation inhibitor under the conditions of heating in a thin film at 163°C for 5, 10, 15, and 20 h was studied. An increase in the asphaltene content, associated with the new formation of a colloid-unstable high-molecular-weight fraction A1 of increased aromaticity, was observed to a lesser extent than in the straight bitumen.     

Ultra-wideband sensing behind dielectric barriers

In the work, an approach to reconstruction of radio images of objects behind dielectric barriers is considered. The approach is based on the method of mathematical focusing of reflected ultra-wideband signals. A sensing system is a radar with aperture synthesis. The possibility of improving the image quality by additional processing of received signals is demonstrated. The efficiency of the method is confirmed by numerical modeling and experimental results.
